  • Karama Assembly

    Students remembered those who died in the Karama War on March 21st. We owe a debt of thanks to those who gave their lives to defend our land and people.


  • KG Mother's day

    From March 21 to 30 we hosted KG Mother??s day celebrations, students sang and danced special for Moms. Each child presented a home-made gift to their Mom. There were tears of joys and smiles as everyone joined in celebrations from the heart.


  • Sport day for Grade 4-7

    CHS held a intramural tele-match Tuesday, March 16 for Grade 6, 7 and Wednesday, March 17 for grades 4-5 and the winners were Grade 4B1, 5B1, 6B2 and 7A


  • IB Workshop for IB Teachers

    During March 4, 5, 6 and 7 four of our Arabic teachers went for an IB language workshop in Dubai. Muyassar, Lina, Eman and Faiza had a great time learning the details of the IBDP. It is good for teachers to exchange ideas with other professionals.


  • Grade 2 trip to The King Hussein Mosque

    On Sunday, March 14, grade 2 students went to the King  Hussein mosque. They were given a tour, gift baf and then spent time in praying. Students came back very excited about the trip


  • KG Fun Town Trp

    All KG students went to ??Fun Town? with their teachers during the month of March; there are some lovely pictures of the children playing together. Even teachers enjoyed the break from the daily routine.


  • Animal Welfare Center KG visit

    The Animal Welfare Center was visited by all children in the KG. It was explained how to properly take care of pet. Children saw how the animals are taken care of by the center and what different services are available. Teachers and students said the time flew by as they learned about animal care.


  • World Math Day

    Every year during the first week of March, World Math Day occurs. This year was no exception as our school participated during both breaks in the computer labs under the supervision of the math department. The fun of joining students around the world in a competition makes the effort of all worthwhile. Every year we get just that much closer to being world champs, But who cares? It's fun to try.


  • Global Buddies Project

    On Thursday, March 4th, grade 3B1 talked through Skype to grade 2 classes at Forest Lake Primary School in South Caroline, USA. It was amazing to see students from the two countries see and talk to each other in real time. This should be the start of something BIG.


  • Toastmaster Speech Crafters Course

    Students are not the only ones with homework these days. A group of 20 teachers participated in a Speech Crafters course conducted by the Toastmaster's Club. It was a great time as teachers enjoyed improving speaking skills and hearing the words from other colleagues. To all those who received certificates, job well done! Who will sign up for the next course?


  • Celebration on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) Birthday

    The celebration was followed up on Thursday Feb 25, 2010 with a book fair in the library were religion book were on sale for students from student purchase. Students from the secondary school were invited to attend a lecture given by the distinguished who is Dr. Hamdi Murad  professor at the Islamic University in Jordan. He spoke the topic of the birth of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Students interacted at the end with a question and answer session.


  • Cultural Celebration on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) Birthday

    Wednesday Feb 24, 2010, the KG and grades 1, 2 and 3 celebrated the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) by viewing a skit which centered around the way different countries of the Islamic World honor the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) on this day


  • Career Day 2010

    The counseling department has been busy with giving students information about making good choices of future careers. Grades 11 and 12 went on a trip to visit Royal Jordanian offices at the QAIA on Saturday Feb, 20, 2010. Grades 1, 2, and 3 were involved with a dress up day on Tuesday Feb, 23, 2010. Students came as future businessmen, doctors, police, military officers and many other professions. On Wednesday Feb, 24, 2010 the counseling department entered classrooms of grade 4-10 posing questions that got students thinking about what they want to do as a future occupation.


  • MUN Delegates Radio interview

    As MUN Delegates were interviewed by play radio 96.5 FM on Saturday Feb 20, 2010 by our own Nancy Khair. Students were asked their opinion on different teen related topics. This is good practice for the delegates who need to think fast on their feet.


  • Spelling Bee 2010

    Spelling Bee 2010 was conducted the week of February 14-18. Two classes at a time competed against each other with English teachers as judges. Trophies were awarded to first, second and third place winners. The teachers said there was such a great improvement in the level of spelling that it took the teachers by surprise. That is great news. Winners of the contests are as follows:
    Grades 1 + 2: 1st Dean Ayesh, 2nd Qusay Omari, 3rd Heba Faraj
    Grades 3 + 4: 1st Ranoo Rebaz, 1st Zaina Nasereddin, 3rd Chloe Padel

    All students who made it to the spell offs are winners in their own classes. All participants deserve our congratulations.


  • Kindergarten Pyjama Day

    Pyjama Day for the Kindergarten was on February 11, Thursday. Students and teachers participated in a day of skits, stories and discussions about what proper to do before going to bed. Check the school albums to see some of the delightful pictures taken this day. It brought smiles to all our faces to see the children in their pyjamas with stuffed animals and favorite pillows. Teachers got into the spirit with their dressing for the day. This was a perfect example of putting into practice things taught about life.


  • AbdulHadi Raji Al Majalli's lecture for the IB students

    On Sunday, February 7, we were honored to have a visit from the famous journalist, AbdulHadi Raji Al Majalli.  He writes for the 'Al Rai' newspaper with a daily column on the back page. The grade 11 and 12 students were presented with a question and answer session where both parties, student and journalist with visitors, exchanged points of view.  The discussion was very informative and diverse.  Students benefitted from the visit for both their language classes and TOK.

  • School Switzerland ski trip

    16 students and 3 teachers participated in this year's ski trip to Switzerland. For the week of January 9 - 16, our friends traveled the slopes and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery. Even is you are not a skier, the pictures in the photo album would want to make you think to go next year on this trip. The teachers reported that all went well and everyone returned safe and relaxed


  • School Switzerland ski trip

    During Jan 6th- Jan 16th students and teachers are in Switzerland on a school sponsored ski trip. We are waiting for their return to post pictures and hear about their adventures.


  • Alphabet day

    Alphabet day was on January 5 at school for KG and primary grades. Students recited both Arabic and English letters with songs and rhymes. Inside the classroom activities focused on the alphabet were conducted throughout the day.


  • End of first semester

    The semester comes to a close. First semester final examinations start Sunday, January 27. Please check this website for the schedules of exams. We wish all our students success. Study well.


  • Christmas Celebrations

    Christmas could not be complete without a visit from Santa. Children in the primary grades and KG exchanged sweets brought from home. Teachers had a party. The reception area was beautifully decorated using all recycled materials.

    Live music in the reception area, courtesy of Miss Rania Andoni and Miss Warka abdul Ghani, played during the days. It was a lovely atmosphere for the season.


  • CAS Car Wash

    Car Wash sponsored by the CAS students in the IB program was done on Sunday, December 13 during the school day. The cars that were washed came away from the school sparkling. It was probably due to the "elbow grease" used by the washers that made the cars shine.


  • The CAS tomato harvest in the Jordan Valley

    On Saturday, December 19 the CAS students participated in another community event outside the school.  They helped with the tomato harvest in the Jordan Valley as they did last year.  Tomatoes were fried and eaten with homemade bread by the people that did the harvesting.  Local residents taught the students the dabbkeh which rounded out the day.  We are thankful that the weather was good and allowed for the interaction between our students and local farmers to take place


  • KG Colour Week

    Colour Week is an annual event of the kindergartens.  Each day of the Christmas week students are encouraged to wear different colors to reinforce the lessons of the semester.  There are some beautiful pictures of our children in their special clothes.  Please see the albums of the website for pictures.


  • CHS Christmas Choir at Marriot Hotel

    In the evening of December 17, the Marriott Hotel was the site of our choir sing that helped set the holiday spirit for the community. Thanks to the fine arts department and teacher talents for their efforts as they sang along with the students.


  • Hijri New Year

    This is the start of the Muslim Year 1431. Students in grades 1, 2 and 3 were given a simple explanation of the meaning of the holiday through the use of shadow puppets. It was a nice touch. Our teachers are creative!


  • IB Traffic Awareness Day 4

    Wednesday 16th December, 09 was the day of the visit of the rally car with driver. Mr. Amjad Farrah, with his crew, Mr. Essam Shahzadah, and Dr. Hadi from NYIT spoke to students and staff about road safety. Pictures with the rally car were taken of our students dressed in red, yellow and green. The Bake Sale items were sold out before the break finished. On Wednesday evening, students were invited to attend a movie with safety tips and videos shown at the introduction. A big thank you goes to students of CAS and Miss Michelle, Miss Shireen for organizing the week. There were others involved what also should get a thank you. It was a huge team effort that produced great results.


  • IB Traffic Awareness Day 3

    On Tuesday 15th December, 09, there was a bicycle race for grades 3 - 8. 1st place---Lara Al Khatib (3B2), 2nd place---Yazan Abu Libbeh (5B3), 3rd place---Hikmet Zandi (6A1). This race was followed by a remote car race. Winners were 1st place---Mohammad Haddad (5A1), 2nd place---Fasial Hourani (4B3), 3rd place---Zaid Wahbah (8A1). What a day to remember. Congratulations to all the winners of these fun events.


  • IB Traffic Awareness Day 2

    On Monday 14th December, 09. Students were able to see a short exhibition and the safety equipment used by official drivers.


  • IB Traffic Awareness Day 1

    The second week of December was the IB Traffic Awareness Week sponsored by the CAS students in grades 11 and 12. On Sunday 13th December, 09, the IB students sold coloring books produced by them to grades 1, 2 and 3. Short sketches and videos were shown to them so students would understand what the week's activities are about. We were happy to see the racing motorcycles zoom onto the playground


  • Arabic Language Day

    Arabic Language Day was Thursday, December 10. Each teacher conducted something out of the ordinary during the class time for this day. There were skits, quiz competitions, games and puzzle solving done by students this day. Everything was focused on the Arabic language or stories/authors from the Arab world. Let's do this more often.


  • Eid Al Adha celebrations

    As we waited for Eid Al Adha to begin, students from the religion classes joined together in a practical teaching experience. A simple look at the Haj was shown to different grades and parents. On Tuesday, November 24th , our playground and multipurpose hall was transformed to resemble important religion sites of the Haj. For some students this was their first time to experience and understand the whole time of the Haj


  • Passport to Reading for grade 1, 2 and 3

    Passport to Reading was a reading activity week for grades 1, 2 and 3.  Students were given individual "passports" were they registered the books that they read for the week.  As more books were read, more kilometers were traveled by their class.  The class that traveled the most was given a reward. Reading is the way to learn a language.  Let's keep the push to read, read and read more.


  • Community Trips

    All KG students will visit our favorite Pizza place, "Pizza Pasquale", in Khelda, to try their hand at making pizza. They saw how a business operates,, from the inside. Students enjoyed a delicious reward for their efforts. This visit was done in conjunction with their unit on community workers. November 22nd -25th will be a week to remember.


  • Black and White Day

    November 22nd was a day of opposites with students and teachers from all grades dressing in black and white. The day included classical music in the reception area, students doing "the twist" at break under the direction of the drama teacher and beautiful designed masks for students, administration and teachers to wear. The entire Fine Arts Department with Miss Fardous need to be congratulated.


  • Swimming Games

    Football is not the only sport that our school excels in. On Saturday, November 21st, our students participated in a swimming meet against the American Community School at the end; both schools split the awards with wins on both sides. We are hoping for more schools to join in swimming games.


  • Football competitions

    Football competitions filled the time of grade 7,8 and 9 students on Friday, November 21st . Cambridge High School, The French School, Amman Baccalaureate School plus The International Community School and the International Jordan Club participated in these friendly games. The games took place at the French School located in Dar Al Haydar. CHS took the 1st place, but all students walked away as winners.


  • Play at ABS attended by IB students

    On November 5, Thursday, students of our IB went to ABS to watch the play that students from their IB class produced. We encourage this type of exchange between students.  It is good to see other looks at the same topic.


  • Parents meeting for grade 1-3

    On November, 14 Once each semester the school hosts a meeting time for parents and teachers to discuss individual student progress.  Both parents and teachers find this time of great value.  The coming dates are listed on the school agenda and website calendar.


  • HM the Late King Husseins Birthday

    November 14 is a date that is dear to the hearts of all Jordanians.  On this day we remembered HRH the late King Hussein with words and pictures of his life and accomplishments.  We thank the Social Studies department for their leading the day.

     


  • MUN

    MUN (Model United Nations) is an annual event sponsored by the Amman Baccalaureate School. Students from schools around the Middle East and Europe gathered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel from November 12 to 15. Students were assigned countries and developed proposals about issues of today. They then presented responses to the issues from their assigned country's point of view. Our students outshined other schools in their presentations and personal conduct during the events. We should all be proud of the way these students spoke and acted. A MUN club will be an ongoing activity under the direction of Miss Rana Gairibleh. Her efforts showed in the way our students conducted themselves. The MUN was closed on Sunday by a keynote speak from HRH Prince Rashid Bin Hassan. The next step for our students is to attend an MUN in a European country. More news to come.


  • Sport Day for grades 1-3

    On Sunday, November 15, grades 1, 2 and 3 had a time of team building in the gymnasium.  All members of the individual grades competed against each other as they worked together on different sport activities.  Each class cheered for the others as they passed balls and ran and jumped from goal to goal.  Teachers and students dressed for the day and totally enjoyed the experience.


  • Math day

    October went out on a high note as the math department organized a day to remember. All students from grades 1 to 10 stopped traditional math lessons for the day as teachers introduced innovated lessons that used methods of tactical types. Games and line-ups and competitions showed uses of math in new ways. It was an eye opening event.


  • Parents/ Teachers Meetings

    After first assessments, CHS hosts a number of Saturdays for parents to see the progress of their students and talk to teachers. These parents/teacher meetings are useful for both individuals. We want the best for our students and working with families is the only way to be certain we all work in the same track. Teachers are happy to go the extra time if it is for the best of the students. We appreciate their efforts


  • Muppet show

    The last week of October was the week of puppet theater for the KG. Each day children were given chanches to interact with story characters of Goldilocks, Red Riding Hood, the Wolf and Rabbits, Ten Monkeys, and Gingerbread Man. Teachers told the stories using different methods which made things very interesting. The children and teachers had a great time.

    The upper grades were treated to a time of story with Muppet characters. Thanks to Miss Lara who sewed the muppets, students enjoyed the time with these new friends. No one is too old to enjoy a good story


  • Grade 8 Trip to Ajlun

    On October 28, grade 8 went to the Ajlun for cave exploration. Again, the trip was a great success in that students enjoyed themselves while learning about the natural treasures of Jordan. These class trips give students and teachers an opportunity to work together outside of the classroom as well as learn about the country they live in.


  • Grade 7 trip to Wadi Mkheiris

    October 26 was the date of the grade 7 trip to Wadi Mkheiris at the Dead Sea. The weather was perfect for students to experience the outdoors and scenery of Jordan.


  • KG Sports Day

    On Sunday, October 18, the kindergarten, with the help of the physical education department, held a sports day inside the school gymnasium. The pictures of the day tell more of the fun than words can express. Teachers and students both got into the spirit of the day and exercised their bodies and faces. What a time to remember!


  • English day

    English Day was on Thursday, October 15.  Teachers and students came dressed as favorite storybook characters.  For the day there was a cowgirl, magic teacher from Harry Potter, fairy princesses and spider man walking the corridors, just to name a few.  Grades 4, 5 and 6 were followed by grades 7 and 8 together along with grades 9 and 10 who entered into a competition against each other.  Questions were of both visual and auditory types.  Winners were given chocolate to make the sweet taste of victory last a little longer.


  • Grades 11 and 12 went to Wadi Rum/Aqaba Trip

    On October 15 Grades 11 and 12 went to Wadi Rum/Aqaba for their class trip in connection with CAS activities.  There are places in Jordan that are too beautiful to miss.  Hopefully, CHS can introduce the students to places that are unusual here in our country.


  • Grades 4 Mount Neba/ Madaba and Grade 9 Wadi Ibn Hammad in Karak Trips

    Students of grades 4 went to Mount Neba and Madaba on October 14 for a class trip to see the natural sights of Jordan.  Grade 9 went on Wednesday, the same day, to Wadi Ibn Hammad in Karak.


  • Adventure Camp for grades 1, 2 and 3

    These past weeks (07/10-13/10) Adventure Camp for grades 1, 2 and 3 was the place for a day of fun and challenge.  Kids came back singing and shouting with smiles on their face.  All the school could tell that they had enjoyed their time.  We like to give the chance to students to get outside of school to see what the city has to offer.   


  • KG Fun Science Day

    Two days were spent with classes learning about making toothpaste and soap along with personal hygiene. Science can be fun as well as practical. And it is never too early to start applying the basics to life. Good for the Kindergarten Kids.


  • Pizza day

    Pizza Day was a way of saying thank you for the volunteer work that students have done around the school with the student council and parent/teacher days. Nothing says thank you better than a pizza smile.


  • Teacher's Day

    October 5th was set aside to honor teachers of the school. Each received a candle as a token of appreciation from the school. Teachers are important as they touch the hearts of so many children daily. We applaud them for their efforts.


  • Kick Boxing

    Students were shown a sample of what kick boxing is really about during a break time when professionals in the sport gave an exhibition which included breaking boards with hands and feet. It seems that interest was generated and students are signing up for the after school activity with Mr. Elias Jouzy. Why not become part of the team?


  • Lailat Al Qadr

    On Wednesday, September 16, a bus of our students went to the King Hussein mosque to pray together with religion teachers. We wish their prayers for peace to be answered. God bless them.


  • A shadow puppet show to grades 1, 2, and 3

    The Fine Atrs department presented a shadow puppet show to grades 1, 2, and 3 about two skits of Johar. The show brought smiles and laughs to the faces in audience.


  • Eid Al Fitr Celebration

    Eid Al Fitr Celebration continued for Wed 16th Sep- 2009 and Thurs 17th Sep-2009. Students in costumes to represent the symbols of the season announced the time of Eid with the beating of drums. Everyone of the CHS family are wished a happy holiday.


  • Kindergarten Eid Al Fitr Breakfast

    On September 16, Wednesday, all students in the kindergarten participated in a Eid Al Fitr breakfast. It was amazing to see 257 students sitting down and eating together without a single problem. They enjoyed Pizza, hummous, falafel, vegies and juice. It was a great way to start the year and feel the spirit of sharing


  • Iftar for Staff in Beit Shokeir

    Teachers joined in an Iftar together at Beit Shokeir on Tuesday, September 15. Beginning the year with a time for all to get acquainted is relaxing for all. This promises to be a year of good memories.


  • Iftar for students in grades 7 -12

    Iftar for students in grades 7 -12 was arranged on Sunday the 13th. Students enjoyed a time together with a time of bingo and general knowledge quizzes. About 125 students attended the event. It was a good time for both teachers and students


  • Orientation Meetings for Grade 1,2,3, 11IB and 12 IB

    On September 5th, the school conducted orientation meetings for all kindergarten parents, Grades 1, 2, and 3 parents, and parents of G11 and G12 IB. Teachers appreciated getting a chance to see parents and add a personal note to expectations of the year


  • Student Council Elections 09-10

    Student Council elections were held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 for grades 4-12. The voting process was monitored by student affairs, the counseling department and members that were up for election from the student body. Results of the election will be posted at a later date.


  • 1st day of school 2009/10

    Opening day came along with the holy month of Ramadan. Good wishes for a successful year were exchanged among teachers, students and parents. Theme of the year, which is "Sharing Our Future", was introduced through a short presentation by students. We hope the entire year goes as smoothly as did the first day.


  • The first day of school for grades 1-12 and KG

    School starts August 26 for PreSchool and KG1 only at 9:00 to 11:00 am. The first day of school for grades 1-12 and KG2 is August 30th. The time is 8:00am to 2:15pm during Ramadan.
